Paperwhite Narcussus

I love Paperwhites... I think they smell divine (although some are repulsed by their strong odor), I think they have a wonderful linear design, and they look like sweet little stars! This design used paperwhites. Period. I would like to use more of these for future spring events and weddings because they are so seasonal and clean! What do you think?

Simplicity isn't always simple

Simplicity: should be easy right? Wrong. These two arrangments are part of a bigger tablescape and are simplistic in design, they only contain two plant elements. The hard part of simplistic design is to make the whole tablescape flow in the same manner. Next up, the whole tablescape!

Simple Spring Arrangements

I love simple arrangements. On Easter, when I was little I remember it being a lot warmer than it is now. I also remember being able to go into my backyard and cutting lilac branches to put in arrangments for my parents. Where have those warm days gone?! I still like the freshly cut, wild branch look and I think this arrangement says just that: with the exposed stems, the curly willow, the peruvian lily, and the delphinium, this arrangment screams "SPRING" and reminds me that it is just around the corner, or two.

Brigham Young University Idaho

At Brigham Young University in Idaho, we have what are called devotionals every Tuesday. These are hour long meetings every Tuesday where the student body gathers to hear inspirational talks from apostles, businessmen, and leaders in religion and industry. This is where we come in, horticulture students get to make the large floral arrangements to adorn the podium. It is a lot of hard work! Especially in the monthes of December, January, February, March, and yes, even April. It is cold! And we have to keep these large pieces alive, uncrushed, and unfrozen from a drive across campus. Doing these next two pieces made me appreciate large floral pieces everywhere!

The Little Bouts!

Today I would like to bring attention to the small arrangments that are so vital to big events and weddings: Bouttonieres! Bouttonieres add the small little touches and personality into weddings and events that bigger arrangements can't. They help to distinguish the special V.I.P. of events and weddings. And more importantly, they are little snippets of heaven! These bouttonieres included mint leaves, mini roses, Queen Annes Lace, cymbidium orchids, and mokara orchids.

The Fabulous Peruvian Lily

In portfolio class we were instructed to make a hand tied bouquet which are my absolute favorites! I walked in the cooler and... nothing spoke to me... until I happen chanced to look down and I see these. Beautiful, airy, springy peruvian lilys. I decided to use these and you know what? I think that these are going to be a fad this year. They come in whites, greens, purples, pinks, and yellows. And they look a little bit like freesia to me. What do you think?
